An alpaca wool duvet is a natural product that – like the fiber itself – requires care, gentleness, and a conscious approach. The most important rule? Do not machine wash it. The delicate structure of alpaca fibers can be damaged by contact with water and intense drum movement, which can cause the wool to clump, lose its fluffiness, and its unique thermal insulation properties. Instead, opt for regular airing, preferably on a dry, airy day, away from direct sunlight. UV rays can weaken and dry out the fiber and discolour the natural fabric of the casing. For minor stains, spot cleaning with a damp cloth and a mild detergent is sufficient. For greater challenges, choose an ecological dry cleaner that will treat the material with due gentleness, without using aggressive agents. When the duvet is not in use, store it in a breathable cotton cover, avoiding moisture, light, and plastic. Do not compress it – allow the fibers to breathe.
