CAN ALPACA FIBER-FILLED DUVET AND PILLOWS BE WASHED?

CZY KOŁDRY I PODUSZKI Z WYPEŁNIENIEM Z WŁÓKNA ALPAKI MOŻNA PRAĆ?

-

Natural products require a natural approach – especially when we are talking about duvets and pillows filled with alpaca fiber. Alpaca fiber is a treasure of nature: light, warm, airy and anti-allergic. But can you just throw it in the washing machine? Find out how to properly care for your products so that they last for many years.

Machine wash? Better not!

Alpaca duvets and pillows are not machine washable . Why?

🔸 Water and intense drum movements can cause the fiber to bunch up, become felted and lose its elasticity.
🔸 Alpaca is a delicate fiber that does not need washing to stay fresh - it has natural antibacterial properties and does not absorb odors .

So how to care for them?

🌿 1. Ventilate regularly

This is the best and gentlest way to refresh.

  • Choose a dry, breezy day .

  • Air the product in the shade – preferably under a roof, on a balcony or in the garden.

  • Turn the duvet or pillow inside out to air it out.

Why not in the sun?
UV rays can destroy the structure of alpaca fibers – causing them to dry out, weaken, and even become brittle. What’s more, the sun can discolor the fabric , especially if it’s natural or light. So protect your products from direct sunlight – nature doesn’t like rushing or bright light.

✨ 2. Clean spot

For minor stains:

  • use a damp cloth and a mild detergent , e.g. soap,

  • wipe only the dirty area – without excessive wetting ,

  • leave to dry flat, away from sources of heat and sun .

♻️ 3. Professional cleaning - preferably ecological

If you really must have your product cleaned, choose an eco-friendly dry cleaner . Avoid places that use perchloroethylene – it is effective, but irritating and unfriendly to the skin and the environment. Eco-friendly dry cleaners use gentle, biodegradable methods that are safe for fibers, people and the planet .

📦 4. When not in use - store wisely

  • Keep your blanket or pillow in a breathable cover (e.g. cotton),

  • Avoid moisture, sun and plastic packaging,

  • Don't crush – let the fiber breathe.

Summary

Alpaca duvets and pillows don't need washing - they need care. Their care is more than just keeping them clean - it's respect for nature , which you give yourself to in the comfort of sleep that no synthetic filling can give.

If you love natural products and want them to serve you for years – treat them with love , not with detergent.
